In the summer people feel like they can’t sit and relax in their conservatory without being too hot. In today’s article you can find out about the types of window film suitable for your conservatory.
Why choose window film instead of blinds…
Conservatory roof blinds are just so expensive. They are a lot of hassle to open and close. They trap flies, wasps or bees, moths and plenty of dust behind them. Well, with conservatory roof film there is no hassle and it allows in a lot more light than the blinds.

For the roof there is a selection of films. Unless you have a polycarbonate roof, then all you can have is Coolkote window film.
In this section there will be a list of films with the benefits of each.
Reflective film – Reflective window film reflects 83% of the suns glare and reduces the heat by about the same amount. There’s a range of colours to choose from. You will notice a light deduction by half. During the day you can see out and nobody can see in. But at night the mirror effect reverses so you can’t see out.
Low-E - Low-E is an energy saving film. It’s similar to the reflective film. A benefit of this film is that in the winter it keeps the conservatory warm. It does this by reflecting the medium heat waves back in stopping the heat from leaving. But in the summer it reflects the heat keeping it cool. It saves on heating bills and is better than having blinds.
Coolkote – Coolkote is similar to the reflective silver but it’s suitable for polycarbonate roofs.
All of these films allow in natural light and are maintenance free.
Conservatory film for the side windows
For the side windows of your conservatory you can get clear window films. Other than the fact your conservatory will be a whole lot cooler. You won’t even notice them.
Coolclear solar – This film can go on the side panels without ruining your view. It allows in almost all of the natural light and reduces 70% of heat. Not only that, it reduces a lot of the harmful ultra violet rays.
You can have any film on the side windows. But coolclear is recommended because you can see through it easily, it’s barely noticeable.
Extra benefits of these films
All of the above films reduce ultra violet rays by up to 99%. This slows down the fading of furnishings so they last longer. But, more importantly, it protects your skin from solar related diseases like skin cancer. tiled conservatory roof
