Explosion Proof Valve Actuator
If your industrial operations take place in a hazardous environment, you need an explosion-proof actuator to ensure that your valves are safely and reliably controlled. These special actuators are engineered for operation in Class I Div 1 environments, and feature flameproof enclosures and conduit seals to prevent sparks and heat. They also have dual seals on the power shaft that isolate the interior from explosive gases and combustible dusts. Designed to meet stringent UL, ATEX and IECEx requirements, these explosion proof electric actuators are the perfect choice for oil/gas, chemical/pharma and other facilities handling hazardous fluids or gases.
The most popular model in the range is the quarter turn rotary ‘Max’ actuator which is ideal for the automation of ball, butterfly or damper valves. It offers electrical and visual valve position indication, a manual override, and weatherproof enclosures. The linear ‘Run’ actuator is also suitable for the automation of multileaf dampers, with the same run times and force capability as the ‘Max’ actuator.
An important aspect of an explosion-proof actuator is the intrinsically safe “i” type, which means that it is protected by circuitry that limits voltage, current and energy output so that the circuit cannot cause ignition of flammable or explosive gas in normal operation or in a fault state (e.g. short circuit). Our ‘i’ actuators, together with our electric pneumatic valve positioner and solenoid valves can be used with a variety of different control modes, including PLC input, binary input, analog input or output from a switchboard.
