Singapore’s One-North Business Park
One-north is a 200-hectare business park in Singapore which houses R&D and high technology activities in the biomedical sciences, infocomm technologies (ICTs) and media industries. It is developed by JTC Corporation, with the aim of creating a “global talent hub” and knowledge-based economy.
It is a strategic joint stewardship between the Singapore government agencies of the Media Development Authority (MDA), Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and the Economic Development Board (EDB). The first phase was completed in 2010 and yielded 103,600 square metres of business park and R&D space.
This was a key reason for P&G to choose to set up our global headquarters at one-north, in partnership with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), in 2013. It also allows us to collaborate with academic partners that are aligned with our scientific research and development direction.
The work-live-play-learn vibe at one-north is a big draw for businesses looking to attract top talent. In fact, many leading companies are located in the area, including Google Asia-Pacific headquarter and GSK’s Singapore headquarters.
With its diverse mix of tenants, the development provides an ideal environment for collaboration. A number of start-ups and incubators are located within the complex, giving a sense of community to workers who frequent these spaces.
In addition to the office spaces, there are a variety of lifestyle amenities in one-north, ranging from restaurants and bars to retail outlets and fitness facilities. Some of these include Fit Bloc, which offers a range of rock climbing walls and other fun fitness options.
There’s also Rochester Mall, a centrally-located shopping centre with retail outlets that offer a range of food and beverages. The mall also houses a cinema.
The area also has a number of hotels, such as Park Avenue Rochester which is located above the mall and features business hotel-cum-serviced suites. Another option is The Rochester, a mid-rise condominium that features a sky gym.
Pedestrians can also make use of the new pedestrian link connecting one-north to Dover Road. This will allow commuters to enjoy a more seamless journey across the different parts of one-north and access all the amenities in the business park.
One-north is also a vibrant place for social activities, with a number of cafes and restaurants lining the streets. The park also has sheltered plazas for office workers to rest and catch up on their e-mails without having to worry about the heat.
With a strong focus on sustainability, one-north is designed to use about 50% less energy than a typical office building in the US. The buildings are purpose-built to achieve this, with features like solar panels and a new courtyard that is designed to foster a lively neighborhood.
As an added bonus, one-north also has a helipad for those who need to get around quickly.
Aside from the many amenities in one-north, residents are also able to take advantage of the various public transport services available in the vicinity, with bus stops and taxi stands nearby. The nearby one-north MRT station is also a major transportation hub in the area and serves as an important gateway for commuters to get to the various business parks located within one-north. the hill one north condo
